another zbrush sketch

another little zbrush sketch I made. He started out as a devil/dracula-thingy - but I cut of his horns an so he evolved in to his goblin like creature....maybe I should have made his skin green?

Zbrush Sketch Velociraptor

So I just finished the latest project at work, and so I had a little time before I had to move on to the next thing - so I opend zbrush (it's been too long) and started sketching a velociraptor using zspheres. I didn't get to spend too long on this one, think maybe an hour total, but I might take it a bit further and make a more finished model.

- the raptor base created using zspheres -
- started fleshing out the raptor -

Le Chef

A couple of images from the last project I worked on; "Le Chef" set in a small french bistro/restaurant where the head chef also is the waiter and the one doing the dishes.

Another 2D project, done in Photoshop, trying to get a bit more painterly texture into the artwork it got me out of my comfort zone ( I do like vectors...) but using shapes in Photoshop allowed me to create a clean more controlled overall shape, and then be a bit more lose within the shape creating the textures.

- early look test at a time when the style was not yet determined, done in Illustrator -

- final image; Cake -

- final image; Cheese -

- final image; Croissant -

- image was not used, but I really liked it -

- final image; Soup -

- Italian Vine in the french bistro, Fino Vino -

Tresure Coast

Some images from the latest project I worked on. Set on the west coast of Denmark, warm sand, ice cream and a general holiday feel were the inspiration for this project. It had to be in 2D and given that it was not an in-house project I had to work on a tighter deadline.
So I chose a style which I was comfortable with and I knew I could deliver on.
I used illustrator to create this art deco-ish look, and all in all I think it turned out very well.

First up; a couple of the symbols as they turned out.

A couple of game symbols, a frame was added along with some texture and a bit of noise, to make it less clean, something my game designer was quite adamant about.

And finally some postcard designs, it was an idea that in the end wasn't used. They are made by using the overall background image, and then zooming in om some of the more interesting details. The clouds are an early design - the final and more simple shapes can be seen on the above image.

Fish Tank part 2.

More development images from the "Fish Tank" production. First up some images of the goldfish - it started out really cartoony, heavily inspired by the "Cleo" goldfish from old Disney animated shorts
(and/or Pinocchio).

- concept sketch and digital paint over -

- 3D model w.i.p. paintover, trying to better define the tail etc. -

- 3D model -

- finished model, before the design was deemed too cartoony -

- the final goldfish -

A couple more of seahorse progress images to behold;

- trying to make GIF in Photoshop, of the few progress images I had :) -

- an attempt trying to compress the seahorse to better fit into a square format, didn't really work -

 I also made an angler fish;

And finally a couple of ramdom items;

- a rock made for the aquarium, Zbrush and Maya -

- an old divers helmets made as an ornament for the aquarium, didn't make the final cut -

- a fish made for the background, I call him Simon (the salmon.....very much a fish for an aquarium) -

- the "triangle fish" some color explorations - early model in lower right corner -

Hexels

Started messing around with hexels 2 - a nice little, easy to use program....will try to come up with something a bit more visual interesting to do later on.

- did a bit of polish of the image -

March of Robots

- isometric robot made in Illustrator -

March of Robots Day #1

So I recently heard of this month long challenge; March of Robots.....not sure if I'm going all in on this one, time will tell. But for now here is a little isometric robot - made in illustrator.....a sketch or an overall idea from the beginning would have been a good idea, instead I just winged it so to speak....most of all I wanted to play a bit with the isometric look. Not my last attempt at this

Fish Tank part 1.

Here are some images from one of the latest projects I did at work.
Set in a very loosely defined  world of an aquarium, (not going too much into detail regarding salt or fresh water fish - as long as they looked good).
I worked on designing, modeling, sculpting, texturing, light and render, and compositing.

Getting more into working with zbrush I created the fish in zbrush, getting as close to the shape I wanted as possible. Then I did the retopologizing in Maya, maybe not necessary as the characters where not going to be either rigged nor animated - most of all it was to keep up a good workflow not getting into some bad habbits with too bad topology.
After retopo in Maya (I quite like the quad draw tool I have to say) it was back to zbrush - sculpting details, creating normal maps and painting the texture.
Photoshop as well as after effects were used for compositing purpose.

- Final render of the bloat fish -

- the bloat fish, work in progress -

- final render of the box fish, at least it was inspired by an yellow spotted boxfish -
 - seahorse, version 1 & 2.....first one looked too much like a dragon - so I cut his head of..... -

Seahorse Turnaround from Martin Hjelholt Brun Pedersen on Vimeo.

 - early screenshot of the game -
 - different maps from the background image, mainly used the beauty the rest was primarily for test and generating light effects -

I used nparticles with geo instancing to create the "rocks" on the aquarium floor. Fun and I am quite pleased with the result - but filling the aquarium was somewhat tedius as it got relative heavy after a while.

- A bunch of starfish what was not used in the final project -
